Ubiquiti G6 Entry

★ 4.7Door AccessPrice tier $$$

G6 Entry is one of the more interesting UniFi products right now because it sits right on the line between a smart doorbell and a true access-control endpoint.

Overview

The G6 Entry is UniFi's mid-tier doorbell-style camera with integrated NFC and RFID credential reading. It handles residential or small commercial entry points where you want camera coverage and NFC card or mobile credential access in a single device without the premium finish of the G6 Pro Entry.

It mounts like a video doorbell and connects to a Door Hub for the actual lock control logic.

Why I Recommend It

The G6 Entry sits between the reader-only devices in the UniFi Access line and the premium G6 Pro Entry. If you need camera footage at the entry point and NFC access control but don't need the Pro's enhanced low-light performance, this is the right tier.

Unlike adding a separate camera alongside a basic reader, the G6 Entry presents a single unified device which looks cleaner at residential entries and reduces the number of PoE ports required.

Performance & Reliability

Camera performance is solid for a combined reader device. Low-light performance is adequate but not exceptional. NFC credential reading is reliable and fast. The device handles both functions simultaneously without issue.

Like the G6 Pro Entry, a single device handles both camera and access functions. Understanding this dependency is important for security-critical installations.

Weather resistance is similar to the Pro version. Mount with overhang protection where possible for long-term reliability.

Setup & Installation

PoE-powered, adopted through UniFi Access, camera added through UniFi Protect separately. The combined integration works well once both are configured, but the two-step adoption through two different applications is worth understanding before you start.

Value for the Money

Priced below the G6 Pro Entry but above standalone readers. For a home or small office entry where camera coverage plus NFC access makes sense, the value is clear. The alternative of separate camera and reader costs more and requires more wiring.

At this price level, it's competitive with mid-range video doorbells that don't offer any access control integration. The UniFi ecosystem angle is the differentiator.
